WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Forward Carrie Snikkers ’11 represents Hope College on the D3hoops 2010-2020 All-Decade Women’s Basketball Team.
Snikkers is one of 20 NCAA Division III women’s basketball players chosen and five second-team selections.
A three-time All-American and 2010 National Player of the Year, Snikkers ended her Flying Dutch career with 1,430 points in 111 games. She’s now third behind Amanda Kerkstra (1,598 from 1999-2003) and Francesca Buchanan (1,476 from 2015-19).
Snikkers helped Hope post a 117-8 record over four seasons, including a 32-2 mark in 2009-10 when the Flying Dutch were national runner-up.
Snikkers was named D3hoops and Women’s Basketball Coaches Association National Player of the Year in 2009-10.
Snikkers still holds the Hope record with 215 blocked shots.
“Carrie was an important piece on a fantastic team!” head coach Brian Morehouse said. “She had such a unique skill set for a 6-3 player. Her ability to shoot the 3, score around the rim, rebound, and be a plus-defender set her apart.
“Carrie's best skill few people talk about is passing. She saw the floor like a point guard. Her anticipation of how a play would happen was three steps ahead. Her passing and ability to space the floor with shooting sets her apart and makes her a top player all-time in Division III.”
