WOMEN’S GOLF
Five Hope College women’s golfers have earned spots on the 2019-20 Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholars Team.
Juniors Abigail Meder and Jordyn Rioux, sophomore Deanna DeLeeuw, and freshmen Rita Cheney and Grace VanDellen all received the honor. To qualify, goals must record a 3.5 grade point average or higher.
“It is an honor and a pleasure to work with these young ladies,” head coach Greg Stafford said. “All of them do an excellent job of being student-athletes. The women's golf program is very proud of these team members.”
Meder is a junior biology and psychology double major from Lansing, Michigan (Lansing Catholic HS).
Rioux is a junior education major from Farmington, Michigan (Livonia Ladywood).
DeLeeuw is a sophomore psychology major from Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville).
Cheney is a freshman from Mason, Michigan (Mason). VanDellen is a freshman from Oxford, Michigan (Lutheran Northwest).
SWIMMING AND DIVING
Both the Hope College women’s and swimming and diving teams have earned Scholar All-America Team recognition for the spring semester from the College Swim Coaches Associaton of America (CSCAA).
The Flying Dutchmen and Flying Dutch also claimed the distinction during the fall semester in 2019.
“We are certainly very proud of this group,” head coach Jake Taber said. “It is a group that gets it. Excelling in the classroom is certainly an expectation here at Hope, it's why we're here in the first place! We have a great group that is motivated and driven to excel in everything that they're involved in… and for us, that is an intentional carryover from the classroom to the pool and the boards.”
The CSCAA selected teams on the basis of their spring grade point averages.
