Hope College forward Tanner Wiegerink has been voted to the D3hoops.com all-region men’s basketball teams.
The 6-7 senior is one of seven third-team selections and 17 overall selections in Region 7.
It’s the 23rd season D3hoops.com has named All-Region teams. Honorees are eligible for All-America consideration.
Sports information directors from across the country nominated 812 student-athletes.The all-region ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region. In Region 7, there was a three-way tie for the final frontcourt spot.
Wiegerink (Holland, Michigan / West Ottawa HS) topped the Flying Dutchmen in scoring with a career-high 13.5 points per game.
The physical and health education major also grabbed a career-best 6.3 rebounds per game, which ranked second on Hope’s roster.
Wiegerink earned All-MIAA First Team honors for the first time this season and helped the Flying Dutchmen win the MIAA Tournament title for the third consecutive season.
Hope defeated both No. 6 Calvin University and No. 9 Trine University on back-to-back days at Trine to win the MIAA Tournament.
The Flying Dutchmen clinched the MIAA’s automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament and advanced to the second round before finishing with a 23-7 overall record.
